Exactly what Alexei B said, thank you for sharing these drivers. Plenty of us (especially us Auzentech owners) appreciate the time effort you put into these improving & updating them. I do have a question though, how come your driver installs OpenAL v2.0.3.0 when OpenAL v2.1.0.0 is out and about in the wild online? Any advantages/disadvantages to updating it or should we leave it alone when using your packs? Also, keep us updated on your Windows 10 exploits as it's interesting to read about, maybe we could all help draw attention to the issues to guarantee fixes before RTM/Retail hits. You are all welcome.
@MatthewB: The driver package does install 2.0.3.0, blame Creative for that. But my customized installer detects the old version, overwrites the OAL redist with 2.1.0.0 and updates OpenAL silently right after the driver installation. At least that is how it is supposed to work.
Please check the version of Windows SysWow64 OALInst.exe (64-bit) or Windows System32 OALInst.exe (32-bit). Having an older or newer version only matters when you run apps or play games with OpenAL support. Other than that is will stay there untouched and won't affect Windows at all. Sigh, figures you post this now and I just recently saw your blog post on the Audio format issues after I spent almost an entire day troubleshooting the issue and resolving it the same way you did lol On top of it it's no longer an issue in build 10166 as surprisingly Microsoft took care of it rather fast. Most likely because the thousands of people going WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED to my Audio coupled with people like us pointing out the issue. What makes this thing so annoying is the lousy support from creative which over the years just tanked especially after the Blaster Z. Which was the last straw for me after they totally shunned the opensource community and then pretended like it was no big as if they never supported Linux what so ever.
To go as far as tare down an entire sister site once used for opensource development created in relation to the X-fi family cards. And then be like 'What linux support we never did that' So shady indeed lol Anyway don;t want to rant instead I'm glad there's people like you that care and spend personal time working on other people's failures or lack of dedication. Thanks for all the hard work, it's greatly appreciated. So Im on a over 8 year old vista 32 bit system. In its day it was cutting edge tho. An Sound card keeps giving me error code 10. Spent 24 hours of installing an reinstalling creative drivers.
Heard rumor of your drivers an did a search an found these drivers. An now I have audio again. I was to point of looking at getting a ASUS XONAR DG Headphone Amp & PCI 5.1 Audio Card as a replacement till I can afford to get a new computer. Being on disability an a very fixed income makes saving for things rather slow. So seriously thank you for your time an effort on this.
Long days indoors with no radio or game sounds makes for a very slow day.
